On September 15, 2016 the Natural Communities Coalition (NCC) celebrated the 20th anniversary signing of its founding document, the Natural Community Conservation Plan/Habitat Conservation Plan (NCCP/HCP) for the Central and Coastal Subregion of Orange County. NCC was formed (known as the Nature Reserve of Orange County in 1996) to serve a coordinating role for the Reserve’s landowners and stakeholders in implementing the Plan. The purpose of the event was to provide some historical context of conservation in California—the Central and Coastal Subregion Orange County NCCP/HCP was the first of such in the state—and appreciate the efforts of the individuals and their organizations that brought about the signing of the Plan in 1996.
